Lapsang Souchong “Smoked”

Its second name is Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong, but some simply call it smoked tea. Lapsang Souchong is grown and harvested in the Wuyi region of Fujian Province, China. Unlike other high-grade teas, the fourth and fifth leaves are used as raw materials. Although they are more mature and coarser, with less aromatic ability, due to non-standard manufacturing technology, tea acquires its amazingness.

Thanks to the unique method of preparation, in the process of smoking on the branches of Chinese pine, Lapsang Souchong acquires its main feature, the unique taste and smoky aroma of the drink. This special method of preparation sets Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong apart from all other teas and classifies it as an elite variety of black tea. It is known that it was one of the favorite teas of the British Royal Family.

Brewed tea has a rich smoky aroma with notes of prunes, complemented by light aromas of wood and cinnamon. The taste is soft, but at the same time rich, smoked, with a pleasant aftertaste of dried fruits and caramel. With prolonged infusion, a slightly astringent aftertaste may appear. The liqueur of the finished drink is translucent, light brown with an orange tint.
