This type of puer is one of the most famous and common because of its uniqueness. Lao Cha Tou in Chinese means "Old Tea Heads". This name is given to tea due to its appearance, which it acquires naturally during the cooking process.

"Tea heads" are formed during the fermentation stage in large piles, when exposed to heat, humidity and compression. Tea leaves stick together along the edge of the pile into clumps, in which the fermentation process becomes slow and uneven. This gives tea a certain feature, exceptional taste and aroma.

The taste characteristics of Lao Cha Tou are quite multifaceted and can change with each strait. Amazing woody aroma, with hints of spices and sweets. The soft, dense taste is filled with notes of spices, dried fruits and light sweetness.
